I was trying to figure out the origins of the blog phrase "after the jump" (because Dustin over at X360fanboy uses it wrong) when it occured to me that it would make a great thread for Ask Metafilter. Then I found out that they already did it. It comes from newspaper lingo, and the general consensus is that Gawker popularized it, if not used it first online.
