Podcast featuring a talk with Robert Altman and Garrison Keillor. Two greats in their fields, both unquestionably legends.
The Kobayashi Maru is a test given to students at the Starfleet Academy-- "a no-win scenario as a test of character." If a ship calls for your help from a conflicted war zone, would you go in to rescue them (and induce galactic war) or stay out of the zone (and leave them to die)? I love situations like this, and while I'm not a Star Trek fan per se, whenever I hear about things like this it makes me think I could be one pretty easily.
Fun little article about how to be a bike courier in Toronto. I wish I had the bike skills or fortitude to do this, but I think I'll have to leave the street navigating to the more adventurous souls.
There were 5,700 complaints about cab drivers in Chicago this year-- which is actually a 17% drop from last year. Check out the story of the blind cabdriver, and the driver who got a little too touchy-feely with a woman in the front seat.
OMFG manual. Made me laugh.
Gears of War + Tears for Fears (great freakin' band, there's not a bad song on their greatest hits) = Gears for Fears. Apparently it's a fanmade mashup, but it rocks. (via kottke) Related: I'm about to start playing F.E.A.R. on my new PC. Wish me luck-- I'm usually a chicken when it comes to horror stuff.
Voters' Guide for Democrats is anything but. There are so many liars floating around during election season-- do your own research, and vote your conscience, not what someone tells you to do.
My old friend (and co-worker) Drew Bell has a blog. (and he updates way more than I do)
