Myspace launches voter registration plan. The people on Myspace voting is an idea that appeals to me. Greatly.
Radar interviews John Hodgeman. What an amazing guy. When I grow up, I want to be John Hodgeman.
MTV will acquire Harmonix, the company responsible for (among a lot of my other favorite games-- I've been a big fan since they released Amplitude) Guitar Hero. I'm sure this is a great thing for the Harmonix guys (one of whom is also in Freezepop, a terrific synth band). But I worry that it's a bad thing for their games.
Ben Folds covering Such Great Heights, with found percussion on Austrailian TV. (via kottke)
In 1964, a documentary was filmed about a group of children seven years old and their dreams and plans for the future. Every seven years, the same company has made a film about the same group of children. Now they're 49, and 49 Up is scheduled for release. Brilliant concept, and it's what looks like brilliant execution. (via kottke)
North America's new Standard Taxi looks fugly. Roomy though-- I wouldn't mind riding in it, I'd just mind being seen in it.
Rejected Iron Man Movie Armor Concepts. Please, Favs, don't update the armor too much. Keep this as classic as possible. (via the fiddle)
Guitar Hero II will be released on all the next-gen consoles. That was really the only reason I was holding onto my PS2, and waiting to buy a 360. Now maybe I'll sell the Sony and go for the Xbox...
There's a new movie coming based on Frank Miller's graphic novel 300, and it looks terrific.
Why Top Gear is the most amazing nonfiction show on TV. Jeremy Clarkson is a freaking genius. He knows what people want to see and how to present it in a way that grabs you perfectly.
Yarrr, well, I won't lie, me hearties. I wanted to post more for ye, but a storm arose on the great sea, and then me first mate was going through a bad breakup, and I lost me hook and we had to spend two hours finding it again, and time got the better of this salty old pirate. But I do have one more link for ye: An energy drink named Cocaine. Now be good, ye lubbers, and we'll see you again next year. Yarrrr!
Yarrrr, them landlubbers at Google have rejected me favorite holiday. Of course, when yer a piratey type such as m'self, BlackJack LeRogue, every day is a holiday! YARRRRRRR!!!
Ahoy maties! Thar's booty ahead! It's me, BlackJack LeRogue. I've keelhauled this blog and for the next 24 hours, by the light of the moon on the sea, I'll be posting updates for ye scurvy scallywags to read! Yarrrrr!
Don't tell me you forgot: tomorrow's TLAP day. Expect lots of posting here. Me hearties.
Trailer of the new DOA movie. Oh my goodness, don't watch this one. I can't remember the last time a movie looked so bad. Not even gratuitous shots of Jaime Pressly and Devon Aoki can save this one.
Ad for an Ikea Lamp by Spike Jonze. Just watch it.
Google has hired some slimy lobbyists. Are you still able to "do no evil" when you hire somebody else to do your dirty work? For me, the answer is no.
Ninty's dropped a new Wii trailer. This fall, it's the Wii60 for me!
I'm hearing good things about Steam Brigade, a "side-scrolling real time strategy game" in a steampunk setting. Anyone tried it? I'm really linking it here just so I'll remember to check it out later.
We've hit that scary point, almost exactly five years after: More Americans have died in Iraq than did on 9/11. Or maybe it's not fair to compare the two-- there's no connection between them at all.
This is the last post about this, I swear: NYT finally reveals all about Lonelygirl15. I'm amazed that 1) they were able to pull this off without anyone finding out and 2) they were able to make people think this girl was really this different-- as the article says, everyone out there thought "Bree," who talked about really serious religious and scientific issues, was "geek like me."
Lonelygirl15 has been revealed. Turns out "Bree" is a lot less creepy, actually pretty social. (via waxy)
lonelygirl15 is an art project, which means I was 100% right (as always-- did you doubt me anyway?). However, I think there's more to this... Hmmm....
The Ultimate Blog Post Hi-larious.
An interesting article about how our willingness to take risks changes according to the responsibility we feel (primarily children, but this could be true for anything). I want to go skydiving next year-- would I be less inclined to do that if I had children? And if not, is that really a bad thing? The risk is the same, isn't it? Why should I feel differently about it? Go discuss this over on The Board. (via waxy)
Played way too much WoW this weekend, but it's ok, because I finally hit level 60 on one of my characters. Next up, I really want to check out HL: Episode One (before Two comes out).
Time lapse film of clouds over London. Also, time lapse film of clouds over Arizona. Also: traffic and tides.
